Meditec Medical, the leading Irish manufacturer of patient support surfaces, held the official opening of their Dublin facility on Friday March 24 2006. The premises including a showroom, warehousing, conference centre, and a suite of offices, was officially opened by An Taniste, Minister for Health, Ms Mary Harney TD.

Underscoring the Meditec Medical commitment to the provision of clinically effective products were Dr Duncan Bain of University College of London, and Professor Seamus Cowman of Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. These distinguished professionals echoed the sentiments of Michael Sullivan Sales Director of Meditec Medical, when they highlighted the importance of evidence based practice.


Guests were treated to a buffet, and drinks reception, along with demonstrations of the wide range of medical equipment that comprises the portfolio of products from this young energetic Irish company. These products include, beds, hoists, patient transfer systems, as well as a package to cater for the needs of bariatric patients.


Ms Harney applauded the enterprise and determination of the ‘two young Irish entrepreneurs, in her praise of Alan and Michael Sullivan, she commended the drive and determination required to undertake the manufacture of pressure relief products, both for the home and export markets.


Meditec Medical, have a manufacturing facility, and logistics hub in Athlone Co Westmeath, and have spearheaded their activities in the UK market, with an operation in Stevenage. The many distinguished guests wished Meditec Medical well, as the company goes from strength to strength in the years ahead.
